What Is Berryman B-12 Chemtool?
B-12 Chemtool is a high-energy solvent-based fuel system cleaner containing a blend of aggressive solvents that dissolve varnish, gum, carbon deposits, and water contamination throughout the fuel system. It's significantly more aggressive than typical "pour in the tank" fuel additives.

B-12 Chemtool Carburetor, Fuel System & Injector Cleaner (0117)
The original and most popular. Add to a full tank of gasoline to clean injectors, carburetors, intake valves, and combustion chambers. Most effective when added just before an oil change - the dissolved deposits pass through and get captured by the oil filter.
- Use: Add 15 oz to a full tank of gas (up to 21 gallons)
- Frequency: Every 3,000 miles or with each oil change
- Best results: Run the tank down to near-empty, then change oil - gets maximum concentration through the system
B-12 Chemtool Carburetor Cleaner Spray
Fast-acting spray for cleaning carburetors, choke valves, throttle bodies, and PCV valves externally. Dissolves gum and varnish on contact. Use with engine off for heavy cleaning, with engine running for light cleaning of throttle bodies.
B-12 Chemtool Brake Cleaner
Non-chlorinated formula for cleaning brake components, clutch parts, and metal surfaces. Similar to CRC Brakleen in performance.
When B-12 Chemtool Actually Works
B-12 is effective for:
- Rough idle caused by varnish deposits on injectors
- Hesitation and stumbling on acceleration

B-12 is NOT effective for:
- Failed injectors (mechanical failure)

B-12 vs Other Fuel System Cleaners
