What Is the Deutsch DTP Series?

The DTP (Deutsch Power) series is a compact, high-current connector handling up to 100A per contact. It bridges the gap between the moderate power of the DT/HDP20 series and the bulk of terminal studs and lugs - giving you a quick-disconnect, weatherproof, properly rated power connection in a relatively compact form factor.

• Current rating: Up to 100A per contact (size 4 contacts, 2-1 AWG wire)
• Voltage rating: 600V
• IP rating: IP67
• Temperature range: -40�F to +257�F
• Pin configurations: 2-position (most common), 4-position
• Contact sizes: Size 4 (100A, 2-1 AWG) and Size 8 (70A, 8-4 AWG)
• Locking: Positive latch with secondary lock

DTP vs Other High-Current Options

DTP Common Applications

• Winch power connections: 12V winches drawing 400-500A peak need heavy leads, but the DTP on the control circuit handles the solenoid feed cleanly
• Auxiliary battery connections: Disconnect/reconnect second battery or lithium auxiliary pack without tools
• Electric motor feeds: Bilge pumps, trim tab motors, anchor windlasses
• Generator/shore power: Quick-disconnect for portable generator feeds

DTP Assembly Tips

• Size 4 contacts require a heavy-duty crimp tool - the standard Deutsch crimper will not work
• Use proper wire ferrules or tin the wire ends before crimping size 4 contacts
• Apply anti-oxidant compound on aluminum wire before crimping
• The 2-position DTP is polarity-keyed - it cannot be connected backwards
• Always fuse within 18 inches of the power source when using DTP for battery connections
